This is a comparison of the Satay method adapted to embedding a video to be played in WMP and the same video played by the WMPObject script developed by Kovan Abdulla of www.imetasoft.com
WMPObject is based on the SWFObject script developed by Geoff Stearns of www.deconcept.com.
This particular example deals with an AVI - which apparently poses some problems in Opera 9.10. It does not work in Windows Vista , the browser will freeze.
Back to EMBEDDING VIDEO ON A WEB PAGE ...
It does NOT appear to work in Opera 9.10 with the MIME type for AVI set to the default application/x-mplayer2.
Once I changed the MIME type for AVI to video/x-msvideo (as it is right now), it works in Opera in XP. It appears not to work at all in Vista.
It WORKS in Opera 9.10.
But, like in IE, it needs a first click to activate controls.
It works in Opera 9.10 (but not in Vista)
Notice there is NO need for an initial click to activate in any browser.
It appears that Opera 9.10 in Windows Vista will not allow an AVI to be embedded by either of the 2 methods, with or without using an asx meta file. What remains to be seen is if Opera 9.20 works any better.
