DNS Troubleshooters
DNS means Domain Name Server. In order to access a domain, the DNS information has to be correct and devoid of ambiguity.
Two very useful websites to troubleshoot DNS problems are used to be www.dnsreport.com and the all-purpose comprehensive sister site, www.dnsstuff.com. Unfortunately, since they now require paid membership, which I find to be in poor taste while also expensive, I can no longer recommend them without very serious misgivings.
I find the decision by dnsreport.com to charge an annual membership fee disgraceful and totally counter to the spirit of the web which has built their reputation to what it is today.
Therefore I now recommend the site checkdns.net instead of dnsreport, as a better alternative.
WHOIS
If you want to know registration details of a domain or information on an IP address, www.whois.sc is a good place to start.
